About the Event
Award-winning actress, Ann Morrison has also been a writer, teacher, and director for over 40 years. She made her Broadway debut as Mary Flynn in the Sondheim/Furth musical Merrily We Roll Along directed by Harold Prince, for which she won the 1982 Theatre World Award and returned to Broadway in LoveMusik also directed by Harold Prince. In London she starred as Peg O’Connell in David Heneker!s new musical Peg based on Peg O!"My Heart. Off Broadway she originated the role of Lizzie in the Pen/ Harmon musical Goblin Market garnering a Drama Desk Award© Nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Musical. She also joined the original Forbidden Broadway. She was presented the 2012 Best Actress Award at the United Solo Festival in NY for her performance in her solo play Linda Lovely Goes To Broadway and returned the next year with her Word Painting: Soliloquies Around an Easel. Ann has performed in major cabaret venues across the country, from The Rose Tattoo in L.A. to 54 Below in NYC and is the recipient of the 2023 Bistro Award for Merrily From Center Stage. Nationally, she has starred in Moving On, Peter Pan, Guys & Dolls, Cabaret, Oliver! Little Shop Of Horrors, Chess, Sunset Boulevard, On A Clear Day, Good News, Anyone Can Whistle, Can Can, Damn Yankees, Keystone (also filmed for NJ Public TV), and many more. Her recordings include Merrily We Roll Along, Peg, Goblin Market, Good News, I Remember Mama, Lady Be Good, Songs Of New York, The Busby Berkeley Album, Sing Before Breakfast, You Can!t Put Ketchup On The Moon, and The Road to Ruin. She is the recipient of several HANDY, SAMMY, and Sarasota Magazine awards as well as the John Ringling Towers Award. Ann plays herself in the 2017 documentary Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened (Netflix) about the making of Merrily We Roll Along for Broadway.
Ann is also the Artistic Director and Co-founder of SaraSolo Productions where she is a facilitator and director of solo theatre artists with a specialty in solo cabaret development.
